Lunch with Super Man! スーパーマンとランチ

After Matt went home, Nile had lunch with her friend Hiromi (pushing the stoller with Cay), her older sister Chisato and her husband, Sada.
Cay was dressed as Super Man and it was Nile's first time to have lunch with Super Man so it was pretty exciting. We went to a restaurant close by so we walked there.

マットが帰った後、ナイルは友達の裕見ちゃん（慧ちんが乗っている乳母車を押している）、智里、と旦那のさださんでランチに行きました。
慧ちんはスーパーマンの格好をしてきました。スーパーマンとランチをするのが初めてなナイルはウキウキでした。近くのレストランに行ったから歩いて行きました。

Super Man was not really into eating lunch once we got there.
スーパーマンはあんまり昼食に興味を持ってませんでした。

Super Man was also not really into walking home either.　　:-)
スーパーマンは歩いて帰るのもあまり興味を持ちませんでした。 （笑）

Sakae-ya Lunch サカエヤで昼食

Nile's friend Eiko, who now lives in LA, was home at the same time! So like Nile used to when she was in middle school, when to Eiko's house (where her family has a diner) and had lunch.

It was great!

ナイルの友達（今LAに在住）がたまたま同じ時期に帰国していたから中学生の時にしていたように実家のサカエヤ食堂で昼ごはん食べてきました。

Family Night 家族の夜

Keiko, Takashi's sister and her husband came to have dinner at Imakoko and so did Yoshie's second cousin!

We had not seen Keiko and Mizuta-san for 5+years since the last time we saw them was at our wedding. Thank you for coming!

It was the first time we had met anyone from Yoshie's family so it was so nice to finally meet someone! Hiroe is also a calligraphy teacher, like Yoshie used to be!

Since Imakoko had so much guests that night, Nile was hard at work.

叔母の恵子さんと旦那さんの水田さん、そして善枝ちゃんのはとこのひろえさんが遊びに来てくれました。

恵子さんたちに会ったのは結婚式が最後だから5年以上ぶりの再会でした。来てくれてありがとう。

善枝ちゃんの家族に会うのが初めてだったからやっと会えてよかった！ひろえさんは善枝ちゃん同様習字の先生です。

今ここが忙しかったから、ナイルはお手伝い。

Mos Burger モス・バーガー

Matt and Takashi usually, go have hamburgers together when they both travel but Takashi is usually too busy when in Japan so this time, Matt and Nile went out with Takashi :-(
The destination was Mos Burger. They are the In-N-Out of Japan, as it is fast food but they make it after the food has been ordered.
いつもマットと隆は旅行に行ったら、ハンバーガーを一緒に食べに行くけど今回は多忙な隆は行けませんでした　（涙）。
行先はモス・バーガー。アメリカのイン・アン・アウト・バーガーの様に注文をしてから作ってくれます。


We had three burgers: Mos burger, teriyaki burger, and (the most unique item on the menu) rice burger where the bun has been replaced by two rice patties. Neither of us were sure about it but it was pretty good.
私たちの注文はモス・バーガー、照り焼きバーガーそして（私たちにとっては一番珍しい）ライス・バーガー。どうかと思ったけどおいしかったです。

Playing with Cay 慧と遊ぶ

We went out for donuts with Chisato and her son, Cay. Matt really liked the mochi donuts that we have never seen in the U.S.
ナイルの友達の智里と息子の慧とマットの大好きなドーナツを食べに行きました。マットは初めて食べるモチモチタイプのドーナツが大好きになりました。


Cay was getting antsy after sitting in his chair at the donut store, so we went for a jog to the park.
慧はドーナツの後で座っていられなくなったからみんなで公園に走って行きました。


He had a great time on the rocking animals. He needed help getting onto it at first, but then learned how to do it himself.
ロックアニマルの上で楽しそうです。初めは一人で出来なかったけど一人で乗れるようになりました。


Matt and Cay got along really well. Here they are spotting a plane flying overhead.
マットは慧ととっても良く遊べました。二人で飛行機を指差しているところです。

Imakoko 今ここ

The day after we got to Fukuoka (Nile's home town), we ate at Imakoko, Nile's dad's restaurant. Here is Takashi and Natsumi Hard at work.

福岡の実家に着いた次の日、実家のごはん屋今ここで食べました。ポレポレ店長も奈津美シェフも忙しく働いてます。


This is the fish appetizer and vegetable appetizer. これが魚の前菜と野菜の前菜です。

Tsukiji Sushi 築地の寿司

The last day in Tokyo, we went to Tsukiji, the fish market in Tokyo, with Renna and Takashi. We got in line for the best sushi place there. The line was way out the door and about two hours long. On the left, you can see one of Matt's favorite fish market vehicles.
東京最後の日、玲奈と父とマットと4人で築地の魚市場に行きました。いちばん有名らしいすし屋に2時間も並らびました。長蛇の列の最後の方にならんでいる時の写真です。

Once we got to the head of the line, we could see in through the window.
一番前まで来たとき、店の様子がやっと見えました。

We were all very excited about going in. (Except Takashi who was just being silly.)

もうすぐ！こんなに待っても父は笑わせます。

We had some absolutely amazing sushi. This is some of the best uni we've had. Uni is very hit-or-miss. Matt's favorite was the ikura.
とってもおいしい寿司でした。当たり外れの可能性のあるウニは大あたりでした。マットは、いくらが一番好きでした。

And one of the most interesting pieces was this shell fish.
一番おもしろかったのは、この貝です。

It was shucked right then so that it was still alive. after scoring it with a knife, the chef slapped it hard onto the rice and presented it immediately. It was still recoiling reflexivly when it got to us.
握る直前まで貝の中で元気で、貝殻から外されて、大将に叩かれて　すぐシャリに乗せられてまだその反応を見せていました。

Akihabara Kondo Robot Spot秋葉原のロボット屋

We went to Akihabara in search of robot parts for Matt and his Robot-building friend Rob. Eventually we found this amazing club where hobbiest build humanoid robots to play soccer.
ロボットを作るマットの友達のロブの部品探しに秋葉原に行きました。 永遠探した後でサッカーロボットのホビー屋さんを見つけました。


This one could throw a ball from one side of the field to the other.
このロボットはサイドラインからフィールドの中にボールを投げれるロボットです。

Walk on Omotesandoh 表参道で散歩

The day after Yoshito's wedding, the Ookuma family, Tanaka family and us the Kurashiges went for a walk. Yoshito's parents had to head home to get back to thier dog, Botan (meaning Peoney). Here is all of smiling becuse none of us are hung over!
頼人の結婚式の次の日は大熊家族、田中家族、と倉重家で散歩に行きました。残念ながら豊永家族は犬の牡丹ちゃんの世話のために帰ってしまいました。誰も二日酔いじゃないからみんな笑顔！

We walked from Omotesandoh to Harajyuku where we went to a Meiji Jinguu where the 122nd Emperor of Japan is berried.
表参道から原宿まで歩いて明治神宮に行きました。

This is the large entence. Kuma-san, whose hobby includes wood working went to smell the ceder and it　actually smelled good! 入り口の鳥居は巨大でした。木を使って物を作るのが趣味な熊さんは鳥居の香りを嗅ぎに行きました。檜の香りがとっても良かったです。

There was going to be an event later today (not sure which one). イベント（どれか分からない）の準備がされてました。

Since it is a huge place, there were more lots of things happening, like a wedding (here, the bride's outer most layer is getting sown onto the next layer of kimono),
とっても大きなところだからいろいろなイベントが同時に行われいました。たとえは結婚式（この写真は花嫁さんの白無垢が下の着物に縫い付けられているところです）。

Celebration for dolls (in Japan, there are horror stroies about dolls taking on sperits so people are scared to get rid of doll so rather than tossing them, some people bring it to temples to be cleared of evil before tossing).
人形祭も行われていました。

as well as the usuall visitors including us wishing Yoshito and Miho the best.
そして頼人と美帆ちゃんの新婚生活が永遠続くように祈願する私たちのような普通の人もたくさん来てました。

After our long walk to the temple, we walked back on a different street then concluded our multi family outing with one of Matt's faviorate food, Tonkatsu, fried pork.
明治神宮まで歩いた後は竹下通を通って皆で豚カツ・かつ丼を食べました。

Wedding in Tokyo 東京の結婚式

We traveled to Japan to see Nile's long time good friend get married. It was also about time for us to take a vacation anyway. Matt's really appreciated the time away from work.
ないるの幼馴染の頼人が結婚しました。バケーションが欲しかった私たちはルンルンで出席しました。マットは取っても休みが欲しかったから特に喜んでました。

Nile's dad got scolded for taking this photo, but isn't it beautiful? Here the bride, Miho is putting the ring on the groom's, Yoshito, finger.
写真を撮ったらいけないのに撮ったから父は怒られていたけどでもとってもきれいな写真が撮れました。これは新婦の美帆ちゃんが 頼人の指に指輪をしてるところです。

After the ceremony, the bride and groom exited the chappel to a crowed of guests throwing flower petals.
結婚式の後で花びら吹雪の中を花婿と花嫁がチャペルから出てきました。

I thought it was interesting that there is no wedding party in a Japanese wedding.
マットはウエディング・パーティーと呼ばれる仲人を果たす友達グループがいないのにびっくりしてました。

　　　　　

The event was held in a complex designed specifically for weddings. It was quite nice and you wouldn't know that it's downtown Tokyo.
建物は結婚式用に建てらたとても複雑な建物でした。きれいな建物でとても東京の真ん中とは思えない雰囲気でした。

After the ceremony was the banquet. Notice that the bride has changed her dress. This happened half way through the meal. There are also several speaches including one from each of the new couple's bosses from work.
結婚式の後は披露宴でした。お色直しの後も美帆ちゃんはとってもきれいでした。スピーチも少しありました。

After the banquet, there was an intermission before an after party. The after party is for younger friends of the bride and groom.
披露宴の後、二次会の前はちょっと休憩時間がありました。二次会は若めの人が集まったパーティーでした。

Yoshito and Miho posed for a couple minutes like this so that everyone could get a good shot of them cutting the cake together. Notice how the people taking pictures in the front are all nice enough to kneel so those behind can also get good shots.
頼人と美帆ちゃんは優しいからポーズを長いこととってくれました。来ている友達の人も皆優しくて前の方の人はしゃがんでます。

This is Matt in his tux without the top. Eric said this is the look for the after party, so we gave it a try.　この時点でマットはジャケットを脱いで友達のエリックがカッコイイと思う格好で記念写真。
