It begins! 始まり!

Today Matt started on Thanksgiving dinner. As has become our tradition, we are doing a brined pork shoulder. The brine is apple cider with salt, sugar, rosemary, garlic, pepper corns, dried chili peppers, all spice, and clove. The pork will sit in the brine for about 5 days in the fridge before we roast it on the big day.

今日からマットは感謝祭のご飯の準備を始めました。ここ何年か豚肉の林檎ジュース漬けを作ってます。林檎ジュースに塩、砂糖、ローズマリー、にんにく、胡椒、鷹の爪、オールスパイス、クローブを入れてそれに肉を５日ほど漬け込んでから当日に焼きます。

Hakozaki-guu 箱崎宮

Nile went to Hakozaki-guu with Hiromi because Yoshie saw a poster that said they had mums. Nile and Hiromi found very few but had a good time anyway.
善枝ちゃんがスプレー菊のポスターを見て菊が箱崎宮に行ったらあるらしいと聞いてナイルは裕見ちゃんと行ってきました。菊はあまりなかったけど楽しかったです。

BBQ! Fire! 焼き肉！火事！

Nile went to BBQ with Takashi and Yoshie.
家族で焼き肉に行きました。

The host told us that the meat might catch fire. and it did! (and we were not the only ones!)
火がつくかもと定員さんに言われました。そしたらついた！（私たちだけじゃありませんでした！）

The house next to Takashi's is now under deconstruction and had the largest bag Nile has ever seen. Bummer Matt didn't get to see it.
隣の家が解体中です。ナイルが見たこともないほど大きな袋が出てきました。マット見れなくて残念だったね。

Buttercream Flowers バター・クリームの花

Matt signed up for a class on buttercream flowers through a local community college. Pictured here clockwise from the top are cherry blossom, violet, and primrose. He also learned forget-me-nots, pansy, daisy, daffodil, and wild rose.
マットはナイルが日本にいる間シアトルのコミュニティー・カレッジでバター・クリームでいろいろな花を作るクラスをとりました。上から時計周りに桜、スミレ、サクラソウです。他にも勿忘草、パンジー、デイジー、ラッパ水仙、そして野生のバラの作り方も習ってきました。

Happy Birthday Yuko! 祐子誕生日おめでとう

Today was Yuko's birthday. Nile joined the family celebration at Imakoko
今日は祐子の誕生日でした。今ここでの家族のお祝いにナイルも入れてもらいました。

Party パーティー

Takashi threw a party for Nile's 30th (!) Birthday. Nile had so much fun, especially because no one called the cops on us.
ナイルの30（！）の誕生日の為に隆がパーティーをしてくれました。警察も来なかったしとても楽しかったです。



Two friends who are singers came and sang at the party too!
二人歌を歌う友達が来て歌ってくれました。

Dinner with Clark Kent クラーク・ケントと晩御飯

After his nap, Superman turned into Clark Kent and then we went out for dinner. Clark "Cay" Kent was much more into eating than Superman was, except the photos don't really show.
昼寝の後、スーパーマンはクラーク・ケントになってしまいました。写真では解りずらいかもしれないけどクラーク・“ケイ”・ケントはスーパーマンに比べて食べ物興味を持ってました。

　
We went to an Okinawan Restaurant that had great food and great survice that included a toy for Cay!
沖縄料理の店に行ってごはんもおいしくて慧ちんにおもちゃまでサービスしてもらいました。

After the restaurant, we went to a Yatai, a food stand where in Fukuoka you can get Ramens with pork soup. This was Nile's first trip to have ramen at a Yatai, although she grew up in Fukuoka that is known around Japan for its Yatai.

晩御飯の後、屋台に博多豚骨ラーメンを食べに行きました。ナイルは福岡で育っておきながら、屋台でラーメンを食べるのはこれが初めての経験。
　




Nile made it home in time for a live show by Columbia Urano-kun.
ちゃんとコロンビア・浦野君のライブに間に合うように帰宅しました。

Lunch with Super Man! スーパーマンとランチ

After Matt went home, Nile had lunch with her friend Hiromi (pushing the stoller with Cay), her older sister Chisato and her husband, Sada.
Cay was dressed as Super Man and it was Nile's first time to have lunch with Super Man so it was pretty exciting. We went to a restaurant close by so we walked there.

マットが帰った後、ナイルは友達の裕見ちゃん（慧ちんが乗っている乳母車を押している）、智里、と旦那のさださんでランチに行きました。
慧ちんはスーパーマンの格好をしてきました。スーパーマンとランチをするのが初めてなナイルはウキウキでした。近くのレストランに行ったから歩いて行きました。

Super Man was not really into eating lunch once we got there.
スーパーマンはあんまり昼食に興味を持ってませんでした。

Super Man was also not really into walking home either.　　:-)
スーパーマンは歩いて帰るのもあまり興味を持ちませんでした。 （笑）

Sakae-ya Lunch サカエヤで昼食

Nile's friend Eiko, who now lives in LA, was home at the same time! So like Nile used to when she was in middle school, when to Eiko's house (where her family has a diner) and had lunch.

It was great!

ナイルの友達（今LAに在住）がたまたま同じ時期に帰国していたから中学生の時にしていたように実家のサカエヤ食堂で昼ごはん食べてきました。

Family Night 家族の夜

Keiko, Takashi's sister and her husband came to have dinner at Imakoko and so did Yoshie's second cousin!

We had not seen Keiko and Mizuta-san for 5+years since the last time we saw them was at our wedding. Thank you for coming!

It was the first time we had met anyone from Yoshie's family so it was so nice to finally meet someone! Hiroe is also a calligraphy teacher, like Yoshie used to be!

Since Imakoko had so much guests that night, Nile was hard at work.

叔母の恵子さんと旦那さんの水田さん、そして善枝ちゃんのはとこのひろえさんが遊びに来てくれました。

恵子さんたちに会ったのは結婚式が最後だから5年以上ぶりの再会でした。来てくれてありがとう。

善枝ちゃんの家族に会うのが初めてだったからやっと会えてよかった！ひろえさんは善枝ちゃん同様習字の先生です。

今ここが忙しかったから、ナイルはお手伝い。
