Kili helped with some painting this afternoon

First Steps はじめの一歩

Kili started walking today.  She wasn't nearly as excited about it as we were.
キリが今日歩きはじめました。私たちのほうが興奮してました。


She also started stacking things the same day.
同じ日に物を重ね始めました。

Bipedalism 二足歩行

Kili started walking with a walker.  She really loves moving around on two feet.
キリは押し車を押しながら歩き始めました。歩き回るのが大好きです。

Happy Birthday Kili! 誕生日おめでとう、キリ！

Kili turned 1 year old on Saturday.  We celebrated at Anita's house.  Kili did a couple of traditional Japanese rites: choosing from a selection of items symbolising possible futures, and carying at least 1.5 lbs of rice (she carried 2 pounds) which is said to show that she will never go hungry.
土曜日にキリが１歳になりました。母の家でお祝いをしました。日本のしきたりの選び取りと一生餅をしました。


We started the celebration with a few presents.
まずはプレゼント。


One of Kili's favorites was a little lamb stuffed animal.
キリは子羊のぬいぐるみが一番のお気に入りでした。


This fostered a new appreciation for Elmo.
だからかエルモにも新しい興味を示し始めました


Birthday dinner was Kili's favorite: carrots and rutabaga.
誕生日の晩御飯はキリの大好きな根菜。


And cake for dessert, of course.
もちろんケーキがデザート。


The next day Kili got a nice Birthday hug from her friend Aksel.
次の日、誕生日のハグを友達のアクセルからもらいました。

Hawaii! ハワイ！

This winter we got away from the cold to enjoy some sun in Hawaii on the island of Kauai along with Anita and Jim.
今年の冬の寒さから逃げて日向ぼっこをしにハワイのカウアイ島に母とジムと一緒に行ってきました。
Kili and Matt were a little jet-lagged the first day, so they got up for the sunrise.
時差ぼけをしたマットとキリは初日、朝日とともに起きました。

Kauai has chickens all over the island.  Kili loved to point them out to us whenever she saw them.
カウアイ島は鶏がどこにでもいます。キリは見つけるたびに指差して知らせるのが大好きでした。


We stopped for coffee.  Kili loves cups.  Nile loves the sun.
コーヒー休憩。キリはコップが大好き。ナイルはお日様が大好き。


We went to Waimaia Canyon.  On the rim of this great canyon it's very windy.
ワイメア・キャニオンに行きました。崖っぷちは風が強かったです。


Most days we had shave ice.  Nile's favorite was a combo called rootbeer float.
ほとんどの日はかき氷を食べました。ナイルはルートビア･フロートが一番好きでした。

We visited one of Kauai's gardens - the McBryde garden of the National Tropical Botanical Gardens.  There We found a plumeria that had fallen which looks pretty in Kili's hair.  It only lasted a few seconds.
カウアイ島の庭園のひとつのMcBryde garden にいきました。プルメリアの花をみつけからキリの髪に入れました。でも数秒しかもちませんでした。

Kili's first trip to the beach and into the ocean was not her favorite part of the trip.
キリの初めての海は彼女の好きなものではなかったです。


Generally though, she was very much at home in Hawaii.
でもハワイはとっても気に入っていたみたいです。


On our last night there, we saw a moonbow.  That's a rainbow illuminated by the moon instead of the sun.  This was a magical way to end the trip.
最後の夜、ムーンボウ（月によって出来た虹）をみました。とってもすてきな旅の終わりでした。

Autumn arts continues 芸術の秋続く

Kili and Nile went to the Frye Art Museum today with our friends Aksel and April.
キリとナイルはフライ美術館に友達のアクセルとエイプリルとで行ってきました。

Kili's favorite art was one with two babies. 

キリのお気に入りは赤ちゃんの絵でした。

Autumn is for the arts 芸術の秋

Now that Kili is a bit older, she is beginning to show interests in the arts. She loves to play the piano (here she is playing when Steve visited recently).
キリが少し大きくなったから芸術に興味を持ち始めました。ピアノを弾くのが大好きです（下の写真は最近スティーブが遊びに来たときのです）。

This is Kili's first finger painting she did at day care. We were told that she finished before the other kids and wanted to have her hands cleaned off.
この写真は保育園でキリが始めて指で描いた絵です。先生の話曰く、誰よりも早く描き終わってさっさと手を綺麗にして欲しがったらしいです。

Takashi Visits 父が遊びに来る

Takashi visited us this summer to see Kili and us. We all had a wonderful time. We've put many more pictures in a web album.

今年の夏も父が遊びに来てくれました。みんなすごく楽しい３週間でした。もっと沢山の写真をウェブアルバムに載せてます。

　 　

Uncle Steve Visits スティーブおじさんが来る

Matt's brother Steve visited Seattle and got a lot of quality time with Kili. See our SkyDrive Album for all the pictures.

マットの双子のスティーブがシアトルに来てキリととっても良い時間をすごしました。スカイドライブのアルバムに写真が全部載ってます。

Casper Baby Pants キャスパー・ベビー・パンツ

Kili's first live concert was Casper Baby Pants. The lead singer and guitar player from The Presidents of the United States of America, most famous for "Peaches", started recording children's music after his alternative rock band dissolved.
キリの生まれて初めてのコンサートはキャスパー･ベビー･パンツ。Peachesで有名なThe Presidents of the United States of Americaのギターリストがバンドが解散した後に始めた子供の音楽を作っているバンド。

The music store that hosted the concert was packed with kids that were having fun singing and dancing. We went with Kili's friend Gwen.

コンサートのあった楽器屋さんは楽しんで、歌って、踊る子供たちでギュウギュウづめでした。キリの友達、グエンも一緒に行きました。

Solid foods 離乳食

Kili, having started solid foods, wanted to try avocado.

離乳食を食べ始めたきりはアボカドに挑戦。

Elmo loves avacado too and is on patrol for casualties.

エルモもアボカドが好きだからキリの落し物パトロール中。

Kili's favorite is Peaches. Yum.
キリが何よりもすきなのは桃。おいしい！

Paris - Sarah and Nissim's Wedding パリ

Ah, Paris. We stopped in a park on our way to the Musee d'Orsay.

ああ、パリ。オルセー美術館に行く途中で止まった公園で。

The next day we went out to see the Eiffel tower. Kili took a ride on the carousel.

次の日エッフェル塔を見に行きました。エッフェル塔の下のメリーゴーランドにキリは乗りました。

Kili's favorite museum was the Pompidou. They had a huge mobile of mirrors - two of her favorite things.　We went to see the pyramid at the Louvre too.

キリが一番気に入った美術館はポンピデゥでした。キリは鏡ともビールが好きで、大きな鏡のモビールがありました。ルーブルのピラミッドも見てきました。

And finally, the impetus behind the whole trip, the wedding of Sarah and Nissim.

メインイベント（パリに行った理由の）サラとニッシムの結婚式。

We got to see Olivia too!
そしてオリビアにも逢えました。
　

Matt's Paternity Leave マットの育児休暇

Matt is lucky that his company gives him paternity leave. He off for four weeks now to spend time with Kili. This is what they have been up to:
マットはとっても運が良く、会社から育児休暇が出ます。４週間キリと時間を過ごしてます。こんなことをしてます。

Laughing, thinking, learning about thyme.
笑って、考えて、タイムについて学んでます。

singing and playing, not sleeping
歌って、遊んで、寝てません。

Spending quality time with friends and family.

そしてとても良い時間を友達と家族と過ごしてます。
